2 Honoring Artists and Educators
(Germaine Bazzle Day first of 2022)
April 7, 2022 was GERMAINE BAZZLE DAY in the City of New Orleans.
Germaine Bazzle, a performing artist of international renown and an educator in
New Orleans and Louisiana since the early 1950s, turned 90 on March 28, 2022.
The previous night Germaine led her Trio (Peter Harris, Herlin Riley, and Larry Sieberth) in two sets at New Orleans prime venue for Jazz, Snug Harbor.
Germaine Bazzle is a Multiple Wonder! Her accomplishments resemble those
of several great women who lead efforts with which Sticking Up For Children
is glad to work. Marie-Marthe Balin Franck Paul, Marie-Jo Poux, Marie-Lyne Pasteur
of the Youpi Youpi School, ...
Germaine was the subject for three Hours of interview and music in the 'Spiritual
as Music' series led by Maryse Philippe Déjean. You may be amazed by Germaine's memories and her artistry with bands over several decades!
You can also see her honored by the City of New Orleans and the City Council in March 2020, a splendid occasion recorded on this site.
On April 7, 2022 Germaine received another standing ovation, including all of the
City Council and more than 50 musicians assembled to argue for support of live
music across New Orleans and particularly in the French Quarter.
See and hear the CHEERING here.
