5. Honoring Artists and Educators
(Germaine Bazzle Day)
April 7, 2022 was GERMAINE BAZZLE DAY in the City of New Orleans for the second year. Her first such honoring by the City Council occured in 2020.
Germaine Bazzle, a performing artist of international renown and an educator in
New Orleans and Louisiana since the early 1950s, turned 90 on March 28, 2022.
Germaine Bazzle is a Multiple Wonder!
Germaine was the subject for three Hours of interview and music in the 'Spiritual
as Music' series led by Maryse Philippe Déjean. You may be amazed by Germaine's memories and her artistry with bands over several decades!
You can also see her honored by the City of New Orleans and the City Council in March 2020, a splendid occasion recorded on this site.
On April 7, 2022 Germaine received another standing ovation, including all of the
City Council and more than 50 musicians assembled to argue for support of live
music across New Orleans and particularly in the French Quarter.
