   School Everywhere!

School Everywhere! is an initiative began by educators in Haiti, led by Madame Marie-Marthe Balin Franck Paul of College Canapé-Vert in Port-au-Prince.

Mme. Paul and her team have in 2020 recorded more than 50 Lessons in four languages for first-year students in Haiti, drawing from her textbook Mon Livre Unique, despite many difficulties exacerbated by COVID-19. They perservere. They have in fact established a recording-studio, thanks in part to equipment provided by Sticking Up For Children in January and February.

The founding objective of the teams at College Canapé Vert and Ecole Foyer Espoir was to offer students free education through Lessons on mobile-phones. Their larger goal: universal literacy for Haitians.

Their early progress can be seen and heard in SUFC's January, February, and March 2020 pages. Now the Teams' ambitions are expanded. They're pleased to join with Sticking Up For Children in presenting to students excerpts from literature that may be inspiring.

August 2020's contributors include the following. David Amram will read from Victor Hugo in French. Jonathan Richman will draw mutli-lingually from favorite poets. Maryse Philippe Déjean has already recorded William Blake's 'The Tyger' and Don Paul has done Goethe's 'Found' as translated by Michael Hamburger. Cole Williams has given us and students her rendering of "Wade In The Water". John Sinclair's contribution of six tracks with his Blues Scholars leads with "We Just Change The Beat."  knows Blues and Jazz with a rare depth and eloquence.

Possibilties are boundless. Likewise boundless is the potential reach of recordings for School Everywhere!.
