Jackie Harris founded the Louis Satchmo Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp in New Orleans in 1995. Classes began in an Elementary School, engaged 35 students, and lasted one week. Now the Jazz Camp enrolls more than 100 between the ages of 10 and 21 and extends through three weeks on the Loyola University Campus.

Jazz Camp's Artistic Director into the year 2019 was Edward Kidd Jordan, Chevalier of France, world-renowned improviser on saxophone, and Professor for decades at Southern University.
